If you want to have a truly unique experience in Venice, we recommend spending an evening at the Floating Cinema. From today until 8 September you can take part in a film festival in the waters of the lagoon and watch the films while staying on a boat.


To get there, you have to go to Giudecca, get off at the Palanca stop, turn right and enter the first calle on the left, Calle lunga dell’Accademia dei Nobili: after about 250 metres you will find the entrance to the Consorzio Venezia Sviluppo – Ex Cantieri Lucchese, the event’s reception. From there, you will find a boat that will ferry you into the middle of the lagoon in front of the screen.
The organisers tell us that ‘the festival was born with the intention of giving shape to a collective vision and desire. The public is invited to enter the waters of the lagoon, creating an amphibious settlement in close contact with the natural elements’.

It is a magical event: now in its fifth edition, this year it is dedicated to Franco Basaglia (1924-1980) and Franca Ongaro (1928-2005) on the centenary of the Venetian psychiatrist’s birth. The festival is a project by Edoardo Aruta and Paolo Rosso and co-curated by Alessandra Messali. It is organised by the Microclima association with a large network of partners.
