Tomorrow is a special day for Venice: it celebrates the Redentore, the festival Venetians love most. The fireworks in St Mark’s Basin are among the most iconic images in the world. Seen from the water, as many Venetians do by boat, or from the banks along the Giudecca Canal, they seem to wrap everything in colours and lights. They are also visible from the mainland and the horizon is ablaze.
